HB Opera House Retractable Roof

Patton Engineering assisted in design, and in turn manufactured and installed a retractable roof to cover the exterior plaza adjacent to the newly refurbished HB Opera House in Hastings. The structure consists of 3 steel trusses (each weighing 6 tonnes) that are curved across the plaza. The trusses provide support for the retractable canvas roofing - which is opened and closed by engaging the electric drives (also built by Patton Engineering) We are the recipient of the 2008 Steel Construction NZ award for “Excellence in Steel Construction” for our involvement in this project.

Foodstuffs National Distribution Centre

Patton Engineering was engaged by Mainzeal Construction to provide and erect the structural steel for the construction of the Foodstuffs National Distribution Centre in Palmerston North. The 36,000 M² building required approx. 1,000 tonne of steel. This project covered a 12 month period from design through to erection, with our part of the project being completed in Oct 2008. This was a sucessfully run and and managed project, with sucess achieved through a coordinated approach from fabrication in our workshop, to in-house sandblasting and in turn on site erection in Palmerston North.
