This report indicates that current steel erection management practices in New Zealand could be improved. Improvements in erection management will have a beneficial effect on the whole steel construction industry. Recommendations have been developed in this report for actions that could be taken by individual companies and the industry as a whole to advance steel erection management in New Zealand .

Cost Sensitivity

Multi-Storey Building Cost Sensitivity Study HERA Report R4-124

This Report analysed the sensitivity of structural building cost to variations in material supply cost. Three types of structural system are investigated. These include the all steel option, the hybrid steel/concrete option and the all concrete option. Graphs are developed that show the change in structural cost relative to a percentage change in materials supply cost for each building type. The change in structural cost of each of the three options, based upon a set range of material prices rises, is then shown.

Technical Articles

Steel Construction Industry-New Zealand commissioned the Steel Structures Analysis Service to investigate the sensitivity of variations of material supply price on the overall structural cost of multi-level buildings in New Zealand. A summary of the findings is available in this pdf document.
